How do I moderate Connect Now posts?

This article explains how to moderate Connect Now posts within your Startup Space hub and is intended for community moderator account types.

Startup Space has several security features in place so moderators can feel comfortable with the posts that are created within their community.

First, only authorized users may post without approval. All moderators are authorized, but other users within the community must receive this authorization. If you choose to not authorize any users, you may then manually approve or deny any posts—both main posts and comments—created within the community.

To authorize a user to post without approval, please follow the steps outlined below:

  1. Sign into your Startup Space account.
  2. Open 'Moderators' from the left side menu, then click 'Manage Users'.
  3. Search for the user you are trying to authorize to post without approval.
  4. Look for the column that says 'Authorized' in the user database.
  5. Simply click the checkmark for any users that should be allowed to post without approval.

If you decide not to authorize users (or only want specific users authorized), you can review pending posts for approval using the steps outlined below.

  1. Sign into your Startup Space account.
  2. Open 'Hub Management' from the left side menu. You should see two options: Manage Questions and Manage Answers. Manage Questions allows you to moderate main posts, while Manage Answers allows you to moderator responses or comments on main posts.
  3. Whichever you choose, any pending posts should appear in the table with the option to approve or delete. Approve immediately publishes the post in the Connect Now newsfeed. Delete removes the post entirely. The user will not be notified if you delete a post.
  4. Check these tables regularly to approve any posts that might be valuable within your Connect Now newsfeed.

Lastly, Startup Space also has reporting features so you and other members can flag anything inappropriate. To report a post, simply click on the triple dots within the Connect Now post frame and select 'Flag as inappropriate'. This will trigger a report for both community moderators and Startup Space administrators. To review any flags within your community, please use the steps outlined below.

  1. Sign into your Startup Space account.
  2. Open 'Hub Management' from the left side menu and select 'Flags'.
  3. Here, you may review any reported posts and choose to ignore the flag or delete the post altogether.

Depending on the nature of your hub, moderators may decide to forgo authorization and allow all users to post in the hub without moderator. To enable this setting, please reach out to helpdesk@startupspace.app
