How do I use the "Courses" tool?

The Courses feature is a tool designed to organize and manage learning content for educational programs and cohorts. It provides a structured environment for creating module-based courses that are easily accessible to learners

Setting Up Courses in Startup Space

Courses in Startup Space are closely integrated with the Cohort Management feature. To create your first course, you'll need to first set up a program and cohort using the Cohort Management guide. All courses are organized by cohort, so only the designated cohort participants can access the course content.

Steps to Set Up a New Course:

  1. Sign in to your Startup Space account.
  2. From the left-side menu, go to "Courses" and click "Courses List" to open the Courses dashboard.
  3. On the dashboard, click "Add Course". Enter a name for the course, select the associated program and cohort, then click "Submit".

This creates the framework for your new course. To start adding content:

  1. Click "View" on the course in the dashboard.
  2. On the course page, click the "Add New" button in the bottom right to create a new module.
  3. For each module, provide the following information:
    • Title of Topic/Subject: The title of the subject covered in this module.
    • Description of Work: A description of the content covered in this module.
    • Date Range of Module: The date range when this module's content will be available.
    • Module Number: The module number (1-20).
    • Content: Articles or other content for members to review. Make sure to mark content as "For Cohort Only" as needed.
    • Assessments: Any quizzes, surveys, or other assessments for members.
    • Events: Any events related to this module.
    • Current Status: You can lock or unlock the module to control access.
  4. Click "Save" to create the module.

Repeat this process to add more modules to your course.

Course Management Features:

  • Edit: Update the course name at any time.
  • View: Access the course details and add/edit modules.
  • Activate/Deactivate: Toggle the course's active status.
  • Duplicate: Create a copy of the course for a new program and cohort.

You can also export a spreadsheet of all your courses, including the program, cohort, status, and number of modules for each.
