# What does the "Events" feature do?
## Our Events feature can be utilized to best fit your organization’s calendar needs. For some communities, this feature replaces their current event calendar complete with RSVP and ticketing capabilities. For other communities, our events calendar becomes a more widely available community calendar where partner events across organizations are promoted within a single event calendar.
### Creating an Event
To create an event, please follow the steps outlined below.
1. Sign into your account
2. Navigate to: Left Menu → My Community → Events
3. Click "Add Event" (second tab on the main screen)
### Choose Your Event Type
#### Community Event
- One-time events
- Requires ticket or RSVP
- Most common for organization events
#### Informational Session
- Can be one-time or recurring
- No registration required OR uses external registration
- Used for informational purposes
### Step-by-Step Event Creation Guide
#### Basic Information
- Event Title
- Event Type:
- Public: Visible to everyone
- Private Visible: Only visible to signed-in community members
- Private Hidden: Invite-only
- Select Hub (your community)
- Add Tags:
- Interest category
- Expertise level
- Communities of Interest (optional)
- Industry (optional)
- Host(s)
#### Location Details
- Choose Type:
- Physical location
- Virtual event
- TBD
- Map Location (required even for virtual events)
- Conference Call URL (for virtual events)
- Special Instructions (parking, Zoom requirements, etc.)
#### Date and Time
- Start Date and Time
- End Date and Time
- Time Zone
- Full Day Event option
- Optional: Upload cover image (PNG recommended)
- RSVP visibility settings
- Attendance tracking option
- Event Summary
- Additional Information
#### Registration Options
Option A: Simple RSVP
- Choose "Simple RSVP"
- Select either:
- Internal RSVP through Startup Space
- External RSVP (provide URL)
Option B:
- Choose "Ticket Reservation"
- Select platform:
- Startup Space tickets
- External platform (e.g., Eventbrite)
#### Ticket Types Available
**Free Tickets**
- No payment required
- Set availability dates
- Specify quantity
**Paid Tickets**
- Requires credit card
- Set price per ticket
- Create multiple tiers
- Optional promotional codes
- Processed through Stripe
**Donation Tickets**
- Flexible amount
- Credit card required
- Processed through Stripe
#### Finalize
- Review all details
- Customize confirmation emails (optional)
- Click "Finish" to publish
#### Pro Tips
- Events publish immediately upon completion
- Export RSVP lists from the event page
- Multiple ticket types can be combined
- Always add special instructions for virtual events
